    Natural Lactic Acid Bacteria

    BioGaia Prodentis is an oral food supplement that contains the patented lactic acid bacterium Lactobacillus reuteri Prodentis. Lactobacillus reuteri was originally isolated from a human with exceptional oral health, who had neither gum problems or tooth decay. Each lozenge contains at least 200 million live Lactobacillus reuteri bacteria until the product’s best-before date.

    BioGaia Prodentis is available in lozenge-form with a fresh mint flavour. Upon ingestion, allow the lozenge to dissolve in the mouth. Gum problems occur among adults and is more common among the elderly, diabetics, pregnant women, individuals that smoke and individuals that take certain medication. Gum problems are due plaque buildup at the gum-line. A dental hygienist performs a professional cleaning to remove tartar and will give you advice on how to maintain your oral care between visits.

    Avoid Stress and Smoking

    Both stress and smoking can contribute to gum problems. The body’s immune system is affected by both of these factors which will reduce gingival defense. Ask your dental professional for advice if you need help to quit smoking.

    Don’t Forget Your Daily Oral Hygiene

    It is important to brush your teeth thoroughly twice a day for at least two minutes each time. It is also important not to brush too hard – your teeth will not become cleaner with increased pressure. In addition to brushing, you are strongly encouraged to clean between the teeth with dental floss, a tooth stick or interdental brushing. Cleaning between your teeth should be done before brushing, since the plaque will be removed then brushed off.

    Incorporate Lactic Acid Bacteria

    In addition to visiting your dental professionals and daily oral care, supplementation of lactic acid bacteria may be an option.
